Privacy Policy — LaunchMe
Last updated: April 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LaunchMe (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our macOS application (“LaunchMe” or the “App”). LaunchMe may be distributed through the Apple Mac App Store or as a website-distributed version (the build you download from our website and install outside the Mac App Store). The version you install determines which processing activities may apply.
1. Summary
- Most app data stays on your device (layouts, folders, preferences).
- Mac App Store purchases are processed by Apple; we do not receive your full payment card details from Apple.
- The website-distributed version may use account services, payments, and product analytics as described below.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the features that require the described processing (for example, do not create an account or purchase through the website-distributed checkout).
2. Information stored locally on your device
LaunchMe stores certain information locally on your Mac, such as:
- App arrangements, spaces, and related UI configuration
- Folder bookmarks and paths you choose to access
- Appearance and feature preferences
This local information is intended to remain on your device and is not uploaded to our servers for the purpose of “syncing your layout” unless we explicitly ship a feature that does so (we do not as of this Policy version).
3. Mac App Store distribution
If you install LaunchMe from the Mac App Store:
- Payments and subscriptions are handled by Apple via StoreKit.
- Apple may collect information related to purchases and your Apple ID in accordance with Apple’s privacy policy and the Apple Media Services Terms.
- We generally do not receive your payment card number from Apple.
Apple’s terms and privacy notices govern the App Store relationship to the extent they apply.
4. Website-distributed version
If you use the website-distributed version (downloaded from our website), additional processing may occur to provide licensing, sign-in, updates, and product improvement.
4.1 Account authentication (Supabase)
If you create or use an account in the website-distributed version, we may process:
- Email address (for account creation, sign-in, recovery, and support)
- Authentication identifiers (such as user IDs and session tokens managed by the authentication provider)
We use service providers (such as Supabase) to operate authentication and entitlement-related backend services. Those providers process data under our instructions and their own terms/privacy notices.
4.2 Payments (Paddle)
If you purchase through checkout in the website-distributed version, payments are processed by Paddle (or its affiliates) as presented at checkout. Paddle may process billing details and transaction records in accordance with Paddle’s policies and checkout disclosures.
We may receive limited purchase metadata needed to provide access (for example, subscription status, customer identifiers, and transaction references), but we do not intend to collect full payment card numbers through Paddle in a way that replaces Paddle’s role as the payment processor presented to you.
4.3 Product analytics (website-distributed version)
The website-distributed version may send product analytics events to Amplitude (or similar providers we configure) to understand usage and improve the App (for example, funnels and stability-related signals). Depending on configuration, this may include a pseudonymous user identifier and coarse subscription-related properties.
The Mac App Store build is not configured to send Amplitude analytics in our current product configuration.
4.4 Software updates (website-distributed version)
The website-distributed version may use an update framework (such as Sparkle) to deliver updates. Update checks may generate network requests and limited technical metadata typical of update systems (for example, app version and update channel).
5. Support communications
If you contact support, we process the information you provide (such as email content and diagnostics you choose to send) to respond and resolve issues.
6. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract (to provide accounts, entitlements, and purchases you request)
- Legitimate interests (to secure the service, prevent abuse, improve the product, and measure basic product usage in the website-distributed version—balanced against your rights)
- Legal obligations (where required)
7. Retention
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Account and billing-related records may be retained for tax, fraud prevention, and accounting reasons consistent with applicable law.
8. Sharing
We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us run the App (authentication, payments, analytics, infrastructure)
- Authorities if required by law or to protect rights and safety
We do not sell your personal information in the common understanding of “sale” for money.
9. International transfers
If you are outside the country where our providers process data, your information may be transferred internationally. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).
10. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and rights related to portability and complaints to a supervisory authority.
To exercise rights, contact us using the details below. Some requests may require identity verification.
11. Children’s privacy
LaunchMe is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). If you believe we collected a child’s information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
